The art of sending a message or request to someone and then removing it straight after they have seen it to get a response.
Similar to fish fishing.

I watched my friend message an attractive women on social media then, removed the messaged immediately after it was read.
I asked why did you do that?
He responded that he was fly fishing.

Flying fish

A person who lies about his or her age on a dating or chat app or site, in the profile and photos they post and share. Unlike a catfish, a flying fish, or alternately a f-lying fish, is the person they claim to be but lies about age and shares pics that are very old and undated.

Anna had suspected that Stephen might be much older than he claimed in his dating profile but it wasn't until he shared another pic that she knew he was a flying fish.
