A band consisting of nine members. They are famous for their strange way of singing (growling) and strang masks and jumpsuits. Now forget all this shit about what type of metal they are (they're thrash metal anyway) and all this shit that people who don't know anything about the music industry say about them being comercial, lets just look at the music. To be fair they are extremely bad songwriters, their songs are so badly written with the most awful lyrics ive ever heard. Whats worse is that you cant even tell how bad they are because they put so much distortion on the guitars and so much growling on the mic that it just ends up with a load of noise.
Their drummer is good though, but theirs millions apon millions of better drummers.
However its understandable that their music is so redicoulosely hardcore it would apeal to angry teenagers who have no social life and take their anger out in the mosh pit, so that music would be quite suitibal for that.
There are two types of people who listen to slipknot, 1.crazy people who have a lot of fun and just want to get in there in the mosh pit.
2. People who claim that they produce good music who are the biggest loosers ever seen ever! All though they might say that because their ears have been damaged by the loud noise.

Looser: oh yes slipknot are a very talented band who use extremely clever meledolic structures and amazing lyrics like FUCK U FUCK SHIT FUCK which are so meaning full.
Coolperson: Shut the fuck up you faggot slipknot are the worst songwriters ever and its people like you giving them an even worse name!

Ok,so i see alot of "definitions" here are mostly opinions, and im here to write a true DEFINITION.I would define slipknot as not Nu-metal,cause if you really listen to their music, and as much as you guys hate to admit it, they're much heavier(listen to their album "All Hope Is Gone" and you'll see what i mean)then the Nu-metal bands out today(e.g mudvayne,disturbed)but maybe juszt heavy metal with death metal elements.The band consist's of 9 members. i agree 100% that it isnt nesessery to have so many when you can only hear about 4 or 5.Saying that the band has no talent is just bullshit.Sure, corey may not kno how to scream very well but that doesnt mean he cant have a great singing voice(which he does). And to say that joey jordison is an overated drummer is also bullshit. Sure, hes no frost,hellhammer or dave lombardo but hes definitley one of the better drummers in the metal scene today.To say that the guitarist's dont have talent is yet again,bullshit. listen to the guitar solo in vermillion and you tell me theres no talent there.Sadly, i cant really describe the other members beacuse i can only hear them in a few of their songs.And that is my definition for Slipknot.Love em' or hate em' but definitly respect them and really listen to them before judging them.

A nü metal band comprising of NINE, yes NINE members. Why the hell would you need that many people in one band? There are so many noises going on, it just sounds like one screaming mess. They have two 'custom percussionists' aswell as a regular drummer and one of these 'custom percussionists just smacks some metal beer kegs with a baseball bat while thinking he has talent. Great bands such as Royal Blood, The White Stripes and The Black Keys only have two members each, and they're much better than Slipknot will ever be.

Friend: I'm going to a Slipknot concert next week!

Me: Wow, get the hell out of here.
