When a person's actions give the illusion of doing one thing when their intent is another

when a person says I'll call you tonight, but knows that they wont, the other person assumes knowing that, that person lies, says they are probably pump-faking.

After a workout muscles will temporarily increase in size in a phenomenon referred to as “Muscle Pump.”

A Pump Pic is a photo showcasing this. They are frequently in the form of “Glute Pump” pics, aka photos of Muscle Pump making someone’s glutes (butt) look bigger.

Fist Pump

Clenched fist withdrawn rapidly after a feat of accomplishment.

Spread widely in the U.S. in the 50's and 60's in the sport of Bowling.

If a bowler could see that he was about to get a strike (knocking all 10 pins down at once) - he would clench his fist as if holding a string that was attached to the pins. As the pins scattered he would quickly pull his fist back, acting as though his imaginary string pull caused the pins to fall.

Eventually, the Fist Pump became the gesture used on any (particularly sporting) instance of accomplishment.
