Scene Kid

A useless preverted copy of what once may have been a punk rocker, hippie, new waver, goth, reggaeton, metalhead, or any other group of persons differing from the main stream. They are one, of a largly populaur group, of rich children who apparently do not fit in with ANYONE and become the way they are as a resualt to there "horrible lives" of starbucks and nice clothing. These kids are generally found cyber crying there eyes out on myspace because some 14 year old boy who hasn't hit puberty said that they only liked them as a friend, or gathering at large masses at Hot Topic to buy the expensive band t-shirts that cost 5$ to be made, but 30$ because they were baptised as Hot Topic merch.
Punk: Hey, do you want a puff of this stoogie and then we can go chill and listen to the Clash or Hendrix or something at my place?
Scene Kid: *takes hit and blows chunks* um who's the Clash? I'd rather listen to some real music like Escape the Fate or My Chemical Romance and draw red marks on my arms so it looks like I cut myself.

Scene is what Emo Kids call themselves in an attempt to seperate from the emo label (which is considered ridicule). They will try to distinguish themselves from "emo" by claiming not to be depressed, among other things, and by exaggerating standard emo style (for example: adding raccoon stripes to the default emo haircut). Indeed, however, their style comes from the emo "scene" which is ironically the same "scene" they derive their name from and, more ironic still, the same "scene" they continue to hang out at. The "scene" consists of emotive hardcore music aka emo music, however they will also dismiss this by simply calling it hardcore (or hxc) music. Emo culture also heavily influences pop culture. Bands like Fallout Boy and My Chemical Romance are but some bands adopting both emo/scene fashion and music style. Scene kids will often call these bands "pop punk" (or some other made up genre) in an attempt to deny their significance in emo/scene culture. Emo/Scene culture reaches even children in elementary school since its integration into pop culture. These are just a few of the reasons why "scene" kids want to seemingly distinguish themselves so badly.

Use of the word "scene" as a label is a collective effort by all emo/scene kids to keep the fashion style they love, yet to seperate it from the emo label they hate. Both the "emo" label (as well as the attempt to suppress it) and the "scene" label acquired their popularity entirely through such social networking websites as Myspace.

Standard "Scene" aka Emo fashion includes: hair in the face (usually over one eye), choppy hairstyles, two lip piercings (called snakebites), heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow, hairclips for the girls, oversized sunglasses for the girls, flats (a type of shoe) for the girls, hair extensions for the girls, tunics worn over jeans for the girls, girl pants for the guys, and shirts way too small (for the guys).

Varying Scene/Emo fashion includes: Vans slip-on shoes, bright or neon colors, bandanas worn as scarfs, flanel shirts, tattooes on the chest and lower abdominals, polkadots for the girls, long necklaces for the girls, hairbows for the girls, pajama hoodies for the guys.

Other trends part of the Scene/Emo Fashion: gender bending, alcoholism, atheism, bisexuality, rebellion against parental figures, pictures taken at odd angles, pictures photoshopped to be so bright so as to show no facial features, pictures with a fist pointed at the camera, pictures with writing on the hand or body, pictures with puckered up lips or a one-sided smirk, putting question marks where they don't belong (in writing), using the word much inappropriately (example: sad much? or, fat much?), and creating two-word dark-themed aliases beginning with the same letter such as "Ashley Autopsy" or "Michelle Massacre" or "Mandy Murder."
I wish I had hair like that scene kid.

Scene Kids

basically...exactly what the "uneducated rant person" in the first definition said. not the person that wrote it, but the people he's condemning.

A scene kid is a person that does exactly what other scene kids are doing. They wear their makeup, grow their hair out so that it covers their face because they're so ashamed of their tortured upper middle class life. They cut themselves to Fear Before the March of Flames. They listen to songs such as "you ripped my heart out and made it bleed on the floor and now i'm going to cut my arms til they bleed black because mommy and daddy aren't rich enough to take away my suffering because they buy me ipods and expensive ass seven jeans because i'll cry and cut more if i don't get my way" Scene kids are generally ignorant and undereducated. Most try to pretend to be deep and perceptive, but in reality their deepest thoughts are how they're going to get all 5 colors of eyeshadow on their right eyelid.
I'd like to give all the scene kids a nice, warm boot party!

alrighty, since this scene kid thing is such a fight, i'll add on. yes, i'm one of those 'scene kids' , yes i'm part of one of those tight weird groups , who listens to crappy music. but why does everyone care what we do? we're gonna express ourselves the way we want too, and you shouldn't judge us. my wardrobe, is like 40 band tee-shirts. skinny jeans, some boot cut, and yes vans. converse. but i still have a pair of those nike shox. i mean, we aren't as weird as you guys put us. we have our style , and so do you guys. you preps wear all hollister, all american eagle, any brand name. and we wear graphic tees and band shirts , what make us so different? what bothers us more, is for most of us, our music is our life. we do everything with our ipod in our ears. yes, i listen to some of those scream bands, and metal, alternative, but i also listen to nicer bands like mayday parade & go radio. you typical 'preps' listen to lmfao, lil wayne, bruno mars, lady gaga. but we don't judge you guys, as much as you judge us. you wonder why we are insecure to add people, & socialize with everyone. we get judged EVERYWHERE we go because of it. there's always those people that give us the dirty looks and everything. and no, we don't have sex with eachother. i know alot of people think since we're such a tight group we are bound to fuck eachother. i always found that entertaining.
