A trend, basically. There is a type of meme that is a picture with captions. That is called a standard meme.
Person 1: Hey, is Doge dead?
Person 2: Yes, Doge is a very dead meme. (no longer trending) It died in and maybe around 2015.
Or maybe
Person 1: Hey , is Shrek dead yet? (BTW, Shrek isn't. Shrek 5 coming May 25th 2019)
Person 2: IDK, I don't look @ memes.
If you know a Person 2 like the one above, you are sure to know that person isn't cool. They are lame. They are talking about standard memes. Those are standard "fake" memes. "MeMe Big Boi"

Someone who repeatedly uses old memes, and likes dubstep and mlg, a meme rat's main source of memes is looking up "meme" in the chrome task bar and clicking on images. meme rats usually have small penises.

A meme is a colloquialism for an object or an abstract message that's used to help people in danger of suicide with keeping it together and going on with their lives, enabling them to pretend like everything's fine. They don't actually destroy the root of the problem, though. Most of the times, this leads to cases where young, white males get addicted to these 'memes' by completely overusing them in a desperate attempt to convince themselves that life is funny and that there is nothing seriously wrong with them. In addition to that, the effect of the memes on the consumer becomes weaker over time, so eventually the 'memer' has to find a new way to get his fix, because he's grown immune to the effects of the old meme. This is why in the end, any community you see will eventually be a breeding ground for absolutely disgusting and frankly unfunny memes, stemming from the fact that there's a high demand of fresh new memes, but the people making them are just random losers that can't deal with real life.
