A relationship that starts out great then goes south fast, often ends with an ex that causes a lot of drama after the break-up. Like eating a good food then getting gas from it.
"What happened, you two were great together!"
"He said he wanted to see other people, then started a bunch of drama when I did. I thought he was the one, but it turned out to be another flatulent relationship."

While seeing or dating someone, they claim they are not ready for a relationship or are afraid of commitment, but will then break it off with you and move immediately into a committed relationship with the next person. You prep them, if you will, and warm them up to the idea of a relationship or commitment. It's just not with you!
"Damn, I am so sick of being a relationship fluffer for all these loser guys who claim they don't want a commitment as they now have moved on to the next girl and they are now exclusively dating!"
"I'm a master relationship fluffer. Immediately after parking me in the friend zone, he now has a serious girlfriend when he told me he just wanted casual."

A romantic relationship that is like a Sharpie: it starts out fine and then it dries out and dies, like a marker would during use. Normally, these relationships do not last long, but some can go on for years until they go flat and stop.
Heartbroken Girl: Why did he leave me? We had so much for each other! I'll never be loved again! *girl sobs deeply*
Friend: Don't worry, kid. It was a total Sharpie relationship. He was cheating on you with another gal. It would have died out anyway like most flings do.

Moving your relationship to the "next" (higher) level: from friends to "friends with benefits" or dating; from dating to exclusive, from exclusive to moving in, etc. Sometimes the relationship upgrade requires considerable work from one partner to overcome the fears, worries, or hesitance of the other partner.
Person 1: I'm tired of being just friends with benefits. We need a relationship upgrade!
Person 2: What you want from me bro? I don't wanna be monogamous yet.
Person 1: Let's just date - some romance with our sex.
Person 2: Ok. I guess that's a cool relationship upgrade.

A zombie relationship is what you get when the relationship has died, (and we all know you can't come back from the dead) but they try to make it work anyway.

Feeling nostalgic, I decided to look at my old relationship swag, finding concert tickets, pics, coasters, seashells amongst many things and had me some shoe box love.

Two people who are good friends and who might be looking for a relationship. But are friends who are talking. The can do anything a relationship does. They hangout, go out, have sex, long conversations. A relationship but without the title until they both are ready.
