"Doughboy" was a popular nickname for the American infantryman during World War I. Though the origins of the term are not certain, the nickname was still in use as of the early 1940s, when it was gradually replaced by "G.I." as the following generation enlisted in World War II.
It was famously used by Al Capone as he was speaking to Jimmy Darmody in the 2010s Drama "Boardwalk Empire" sentence below.
Jimmy: "Summer of 17 I passed through there on my way to camp Grant""

Usually, these men cosplay more basic-looking characters with easy-to-obtain accessories, like Eren from Attack on Titan who has a natural hair color and wears a key around his neck. Despite the ease of the cosplay, the impassable obstacle these men face in their cosplay is their ugliness, which ultimately ruins the costume.
"I saw another doughboy Eren on hinge today. His bio said, 'some people tell me I look like Kuroo from Haikyu'"
"Who would lie to him like that?"
