When writers give a villain a completely sound motivation/or just makes them right and then is forced to make them do something horrible to get you to not sympathize with them.
How do you make a Holocaust survivor who doesn’t want his people genocided AGAIN, into a villain? The Magneto Effect.
Humanity: Builds weapons of mutant genocide
Magneto: I don’t like that
Humanity: What a monster!?!?

In magneto is term that means incognito if you didn’t graduate high school.
The term was unkindly introduced to the American English slang. After an employee at a well known agricultural equipment company was unusually quiet. When asked if he was okay he replied that he was just in magneto today. When asked if he meant incognito, he vehemently insisted that he meant in magneto. This employee had not graduated high school and was mostly kept at the job out of pity. The answer perplexed anyone who heard it and has above room temperature IQ.
From that point the term in magneto was an ironic term for the rest of eternity. Most people don’t know it’s bizarre origins

Person 1: hey buddy you’ve been real quiet today. Are you okay? Has your baby mama hurt you?
Person 2: no I’m just in magneto today.
Person 1: don’t you mean incognito?
Person 2: incognito sounds like a made up word.
