Get the Ssmug. It has many definitions! It can mean Security squadron, secret society, sissy slut, sissy slave, submissive slave, submissive sissy, sacred society, sun society, etc. etc. But in the case of German Nazis, Nazi Germany, & the Holocaust it means Schutzstaffel, Schultz- meaning defense & -staffel meaning echelon or ladder climber but more synonymous to a Phoenix. They're also hitlers preferred guards! They also ran concentration camps, gas chambers, & etc.!
Their emblem designer I think chose the SS runes as a secret symbolization of his pagan worship SS standing for sun servant & because they looked like lightning bolts in reference to Thor & to their pre-planned war tactics called "blitzkrieg"! Thor is Odin's son which is the god of war! Blitzkrieg literally means "lightening warfare"!
