When a person gives an extravagant gift to the person that they are dating too early in the courtship.

At the beginning of a third date a man presents a woman with a gift - an expensive watch. Upon recieving the gift the woman feels uncomfortable and may feel that by accepting the gift she is consenting to a committed relationship. Ultimately, giving the "crystal cat" may sabotage the future of the relationship.
