The act of clearcutting entire businesses, departments, or jobs in the name of efficiency. This act of purging is completed without consideration of resulting collateral damage or a plan to restore and improve operations.

When I went to work on Friday, I was locked out of my office as my entire department had been bulldoged without warning.
