It started of , as most words or phrases do, as a synonyme for sex, but quickly expanded and became the most versatile world of the english language. A true rags to riches story.
If no word is an island, then fuck is a continent, nay, a world, with its hundreds of variations constituting its many countries. Nary a word is like fuck, except perhaps shit, but not even shit is like fuck, for even if shit has many variations and many meanings, fuck has a certain je ne sais quoi, a certain universality that no word can mimic.
Indeed, many words considered ''dirty'' or ''bad'' have more ''clean'' version. Bitch has dog, shit has poop, motherfucker has dad. But fuck has no equivalent, because nothing can capture the pure magic of fuck.
