toxic pacifism

Toxic pacifism refers to the excessive or misguided promotion of peace and non-confrontation in ways that ultimately enable harm, injustice, or abuse. It involves avoiding conflict or discomfort at all costs—even when confrontation is necessary to address wrongdoing, protect the vulnerable, or seek justice. Toxic pacifism often masks itself as virtue but can result in the silencing of victims, the protection of oppressors, or the perpetuation of harmful systems by prioritizing harmony over accountability.

Pacific time

A hidden advantage for West Coast teams over teams from the East, especially on a weekday in basketball, since games are often played later in the day than in football. A team from the West Coast can't lose either way on time. If their game is home, they start around 10 at night, and end after midnight, at a time most of an East Coast audience is asleep on a weeknight. If their game is away, it's like playing at 4 in the afternoon on their time which is also still a regular time for a basketball game. No matter what, the other team is always on their time, which helps them out tremendously.
Pacific time wins games, it's not something a team from the West Coast has to fight against, it works for them and not against.

Pacific Palisades

A place in Western Los Angeles along the West Coast. The Palisades are home to rich people (literal millionaires) which burned down at the beginning of 2025 as a result of a formidable, unforgiving fire fueled by Santa Ana Winds, reaching up to 100+ mph (hurricane level!) and harshly dry weather conditions. Within 4 or 5 days, the Palisades fire managed to burn down over 20K acres of mountainous land and vegetation, with several thousands of those rich people's homes being destroyed.
The Pacific Palisades fire is estimated to be the costliest in US history, estimated to exceed more than $150 billion in damage. Construction and repairs may take anywhere from a couple months to even one year.
