Punk is a lifestyle, type of music, and in some cases, a type of fashion. But it's more about music and lifestyle. Punk music was pretty much visibly started in NYC in the 1970's by The New York Dolls, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, and the Ramones. It caught on to London, with the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, etc. The lifestyle is often careless, happy, you do whatever you want. These people do not care. If they just wanna punch some random person on the street, they'll do it. Drugs played a big part in punk in the past. Violence is a huge part. Punk pretty much died out when the Ramones broke up for good in the mid 90s. Now the only punk things are the old punk bands. And the few people that still live the lifestyle. It doesn't matter how you dress, much.

(Random girl): OMG! I'm SOOO punk! I have Converse, artificially store-ripped $60 jeans, and a shirt that says something like "God save the Queen" on it or whatever. And I LOVE Good Charlotte and Simple Plan!

(Real punk person): *punches random girl in the face without saying a word*

Not punk: Good Charlotte. Simple Plan. Kelly Clarkson. (You can't mosh to Kelly Clarkson!!!)

a) a type of music thats kinda a faster more aggressive rock n roll. can include many genres.ever growing more popular music that kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!

b) punk is not only a music genre but a life style.its all about not being afraid of who you are or what you look like. being the minority!!!!most people have this image in their head that punks have pink or green hair and facial piercings which isnt always the case.

some one who doesnt care what others think of them.they sometimes have a fear of being "cool".You can be a punk without dressing it,punk is an attitude not a stereotype.Blink-182 IS punk,they have the fuckyouall attitude and they really dont give a damn if people like them.punk is about being yourself so matter if its not socially correct.anti-conformist,revolutionists

Punk technically cannot be defined, for no one invented "punk"...it was a word associated with music and a certain type of clothing and attitude, but in the end can never be defined since no one created it or even knows what it really means. If you say you know what it means, you might just be following a stereotype, because we'll never know for sure what punk exactly is or was.

A male who acts as if he has no spine at all. Often exuding his femininity with every word he speaks and or gesture he makes. Punk is often used in conjunction with Beyatch. See also "beyatch" and "lil."
