When something messes you up so bad that you just need a second to regroup. After saying 'pause-,' the person takes 10-15 seconds of silence to think and process what they just heard before continuing their sentence.

Friend: Aye man you know I'm dating your sister now.
You: Pause-

a pause button is the big bar on your keyboard, and it is used for when someone is talking to you AND YOU FUCKING PAUSE THE SHIT YOU HAVE ON

person- "i gotta tell you something about my day."
tv watcher- "alright, let me pause this movie." ( uses pause button)
person- *tells the about their day*
