BFG stands for Best Friend Gayle
A spin on Oprah's infamous reference to her friend Gayle King. Whenever she mentions Gayle, she doesn't merely say "Gayle" she always says "best-friend-gayle."

Use this phrase to describe any same-sex best friend.

This works especially well when introducing a friend who is ONLY a friend, but often mistaken for a lover.

Can also be shortened to BFG.

Mike is my best-friend-gayle. We've known each other a long time.

A person who you are only planning to date for some specific purpose, I.e. to make someone else jealous, then you will ditch them when you no longer have a use for them. The term comes from people who purchase big, expensive televisions from Best Buy before their Superbowl parties, then return the televisions and get their money back.
