Jeans/denim that are no longer trendy at the moment, but they were in a previous cycle.
Similar to comparing the big city trends to the suburban trends, and how the suburbs are often one-step behind the more modern city trends (Portland, Oregon versus Salem, Oregon in this example).
Portland (circa 2014): Everyone wearing dark washed, selvedge denim.
Salem (circa 2014): Everyone wearing light washed, bootcut jeans with hammer loops.

When my friend Kevin moved to Portland from Salem, he lamented his current jeans situation: "I need to get some newer jeans for Portland, I got some Salem Ass Jeans right now."

Salem is the kind of person everybody wants to be friends with. She is popular, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. Salem loves animals almost as much as she loves people, maybe more. She loves, animals, reading, and being creative. While she jumps around friends often she can be counted on to be a loyal bestie. She has a unique aura that people are drawn to and sometimes has a hard time with all of the attention. She probably also has really pretty eyes that match the brightness of her personality. She is very easy to talk to and people tell her all of their secrets which she does her best not to spill. Salem is definitely a friend worth making.

A psychological and semantic phenomenon in which the definition or description of a subject becomes broader over time. This effect is closely related to Semantic Drift, which is a similar effect which describes the changing of a definition rather than an increase in scope.

The logic of thinking about a subject for an extremely long time, to the point where you question your own sanity.
