To purposely falsify ones own age, for the express purpose of enticing the opposite sex. Average age reduction is 6-8 years, and this phenomenon is most commonly found on internet dating sites.

teenage years

The phase where you're expected to behave like an adult but still paradoxically treated like a small child. This phase mainly happens in middle school or high school, but can nonetheless still occur when you can’t afford to move out of your parents' house right after graduating from high school.

During my teenage years, I had to juggle my parents' expectations of maturity with their constant reminders to clean my room—talk about a confusing time!
