A half-day holiday / annual leave taken for the first half of the working day (i.e. the morning for a 9-5 job), rather than the second half (i.e. the afternoon). Presumably to sleep off a hangover.
"See you tomorrow guys, I'll be in at 1 as I've got an Irish half day"
