Boeing shortened a 747-100 by 14 metres by eliminating fuselage sections fire and aft. Out of all 45 airframes built, one was acquired by NASA and turned into a flying space telescope/observatory and two others were acquired by Pratt and Whitney to function as engine testbeds.
