A common fan phrase describing a tendency for talented writers (those in anime, of all people) to wipe out a large score of fictional characters.
It can be done to show the horrors of war, for the purpose of keeping the viewer ratings up, or to explore the theme of human nature. The Kill 'em All can be done in a variety of styles:
- a systematic fashion with one-at-a-time i.e. 'Wolf's Rain',
- 3 thirds of the main characters i.e. 'Zeta Gundam',
- or more extremely, the entire cast of the series + all life in the universe + the fabric of the universe itself i.e. 'Space Runaway Ideon'
There's also the Bolivian Army ending, which usually features two survivors of an entire group fighting overwhelming odds. The story would then cut off without showing whether they died or not.
The heavyweight champion of this phrase is non-other than Yoshiyuki Tomino of Gundam, whose bouts of depression is sole reason for the slaughter of many heroes and villains in his mecha anime.

When Yoshiyuki Tomino smiles you know it's going to end in disaster. He's about to do a Kill 'Em All on the Federation and Zeon.

By far the best Metallica album followed by Ride the Lightning and Master Of Puppets. Kill 'Em All thrashy, melodic, had blistering solos, and I just love everything about the album. Also, Hit The Lights is my favourite Metallica song and probably the best opening to an album in the history of music. It's full of raw energy. Dave Mustaine also wrote some of the riffs which is pretty telling because if you listen to Mechanix by Megadeth and The Four Horsemen side by side, then you can tell Dave wrote the riff.
Songs in order:
1. Hit The Lights
2. The Four Horsemen
3. Motorbreath
4. Jump In The Fire
5. Pulling Teeth (Anaesthesia)
6. Whiplash
7. Phantom Lord
8. No Remorse
9. Seek & Destroy
10. Metal Militia

Kill 'Em All is not only the best Metallica album, but the best album in music history. Not one bad song in it.

Get the Oh Kill Em mug.Despite the words used, the phrase "OOH KILL EM'" is used as an expression of excitement, accomplishment, amazement etc. The phrase became famous from a Vine video that depicts a young black boy named "Terio" who is dancing and the guy filming him precedes to say, "OOH...OOH! OOH KILL EM'! OOH KILL EM'!" The expression is also featured in an instrumental titled "OOH KILL EM'" produced by Rcm2 where the phrase is the drop of the song and is repeated multiple times in the chorus. A very good heavy trap style beat is you ask me.
1. Terio: *starts dancing*
Guy Filming: OOH...OOH! OOH KILL EM'!
2. Tony: Yo B! Watch me do this back flip!
Brandon: Pssh! Son you can't do no back flip!
Tony: *Does a back flip*
Brandon: OOH KILL EM'!
3. Jason: Ha-HA! Juss copped the new lebron 11's boy! OOH KILL EM'!
