Drinking the Purple Kool-Aid will cause a person to blindly follow those that gave it to them. This definition is considered to be a misinterpretation of the Purple Kool-Aid incident in 1970.
Finding any real examples would be hard, because really, this definition is a stretch. But a women being interviewed at a Tea Party rally in Washington D.C. attempted to suggest that non-conservatives are drinking Purple Kool-Aid and blindly following the government.
