Musical Triangulation

The process of describing an artist to a non-listener by comparing the artist to three or more other artists. Usually done with three artists, two of which are similar to each other and the third of which is significantly different, and in the style of: "They are like (similar band #1) mixed with (similar band #2) with elements of (totally different band)"

Speaker 1: You haven't heard Sage Francis? He's like Swollen Members mixed with Sweatshop Union, with elements of Paul Simon.

Speaker 2: Dude, that's an awesome musical triangulation.

Medley of recognizable show tunes, popular music and sometimes classical pieces played by piano near escalators in department stores, malls or cruise ships.

My best friend of a friend rides the escalator at Nordstrom's continuously just to listen to the escalator music.

Music Fidget

When one changes the song on their radio or music device less than one minute into the song. Normally done on long car trips, or when one can’t decide on one song to listen to. Music fidgeting is likely to annoy any others listening with you, as they wish to hear the full song.

I was driving to New York and got caught in heavy traffic. The radio played all of the songs that I knew, so I music fidgeted the whole time. Now I know all the first verses to Lady Gaga’s songs.

Pocket Music

The noise that results when a music player is left on, but the ear buds were earlier put in the pocket for some reason and forgotten.

We both thought we were hearing shit, it turned out it was his pocket music.

Me: You hea summthin dawg?
Jamal: Nah dawg you straight trippin.
Me: Shiiiiiiiiiit nigga it was just pocket music!

Musical Babies

The result of two talented musicians getting together and sharing beautiful sounds together. Making musical babies is the ultimate form of music production and is created ideally through spontaneous improvisation (though not limited to improv).

Joe: wanna jam today man?
Fred: Yeah, let's make musical babies together.
Joe: Sounds good, it's gonna be beautiful.
Fred: People are gonna cry.
