the original was "win", which people transformed it into “w”, and then people shortened “double-u” to “dub”. so they transformed a 3 letter word into a completely different 3 letter word when they could have just stuck with the original.

Person 1: let’s play COD
Person 2: yes, let’s get a dub!

A dub is a person who will talk to you and be buddy buddy but then switch up on you and ghost you the next day.

Jon: Man, Samantha hasn't texted me back all day.
Keith: I been telling you she was a dub, man.
