OTP is short for the term 'one true pairing' and it's used in fictional (they are real for us) books and movies (fandom), Celebrities or others, who people ship them together. A ship is the same thing, when you love this OTP forever.

OTP has a few definitions... but here are the two most common..
#1 - One True Pairing: When there's a celebrity you think would be perfect with either yourself or another celeb in any form of a significant other As a lover, parent, sister, or best friend, you might call them your OPT or refer to two celebrities as an OPT. This trend is mostly a Tumblr thing, and has since died off due to its silly nature.
#2 - On The Phone: This one's pretty self explanatory and is what I was referring to when I mentioned a raise in popularity in 2016. No true origin domain for this one. Simply just started over some platform of texting.
Usually "on the phone" will be uncapitalized and most times "One True Pairing" will be capitalized. So based on capitalization, you should be able to tell which one it is, if wording doesn't give it away easily enough.
