Transvoltum is a abstract noun. It is an English translation for the French phrase "L’appel du vide." It uses the Latin prefix/word "trans"/"transilio" (through/jump, respectively), and Latin words "volo" (want/desire) and "altum" (high/above).

"Transvoltum" and "l’appel du vide" both mean "the urge to jump from high places." Commonly used when skydiving or near the edge of a cliff.

It is an antonym for "bathophobia", the fear of falling.
