Song #11 on Green Day's American Idiot CD. It is NOT about returning to school, this song is about Billie Joe Armstrong's father dying. This is the first song in which he confronted this issue, and I think it probably did him some good. However, I don't know him personally, so I can't say for sure. Green Day dedicated this song to the Hurricane Katrina victims at the concert I went to. A damn good song too.

Get the wake me up when september endsmug. a song that's really emotional originally written about billie's dad dying, NOT about summer or sept. 11 or the war in iraq or katrina BUT can be interpreted that way if you want.
