When an individual becomes infatuated with their own reputation and creates a faux following and ego around themselves. This is all undone upon the individual visiting a larger town or city, where they find themselves somewhat unknown and ignored.

Where I come from, everyone knows me.

Who the f*ck are you? Sounds like you got small-town syndrome.

small town pretty

A person who is the best looking person in a small town but when in a larger urban setting they are nothing special.
Or someone who is the best looking in a small setting, ie a party or a smaller club.

2 examples.
1. when your in a small town and your buddy says wow that chick is so hot and you reply "shes only small town pretty"

2. You meet your buddies girlfriend and tell him "yeah shes ok, shes small town pretty"

small talk

The act of supplying a person with irrelevant information about oneself in an attempt to appear friendly and normal to a person one is meeting for the first time. This practice I'd particularly important to extroverts (people who take pleasure in spewing random bits of their life stories at anybody who will listen,) who use it to try to judge and impress others with the ability to observe the weather and remember how many siblings they have. Unfortunately, these skills are widely regarded by introverts as both unimpressive and anyway pointless due to the fact that introverts and extroverts alike do not usually give a damn about how long their neighbors have been married and are not likely to remember unless their neighbors are close friends, in which case small talk usually isn't used anyway. Note: all people resort to small talk in uncomfortable situations.

Person 1: How was the new Star Trek movie?

Person 2: It was great except the people I went with have never even watched any other Star Trek before. Most of the car ride was awkward small talk.

small-town syndrome

A condition in which small towns suffer from a lack of offerings in a number of important lifestyle categories (i.e.; stuff to do, availability of the opposite sex, etc.) and a general malaise of boredom and monotony.

God, this town is so boring! There's nothing to do--it's the worst case of small-town syndrome I've ever seen!
