A Japanese word for loser or weak. Used as a nickname in BNHA/MHA for Izuku Midorya . It is the emotional teenager’s hero name, what Bakugo,Uraraka,Eri, and others call him because of either it being an insult, addressing him by his hero name, or just because it is easier to say.

Deku

An insulting nickname given to Midoriya Izuku (of My Hero Academia Anime) from Bakugou Katsuki (of My Hero Academia Anime) during their childhood.

A ‘Deku’ is a Japanese wooden puppet/Doll, but it is also used as an insult (it can mean Blockhead, Useless, and/or Dummy). The insult refers to the dolls, which are traditionally made without limbs.

“My favorite character from My Hero Academia is Deku!”
“You’re such a deku.”
