To avoid taking responsibility for one's actions, often stemming from delusion—but occasionally driven by deliberate evasion.

The term originates from the indie game 'MOUTHWASHING', created by the indie company 'Wrong Organ', where one of the characters consistently avoided taking responsibility for their mistakes.

E.g.
"You should stop Mouthwashing and admit to your mistakes already."
"Mouthwashing!" (Exclaimed when witnessing someone dodge accountability.)
"I don't like name, they're always Mouthwashing."
