A lot like a martyr but is someone who lives through it. Someone who is beaten up, bullied, attacked or damaged for a religious ideology or for something else they believe strongly in.

Mike accepted being a bartyr because he knew it would help the community get over the death or their friend, rather it was right or wrong.

Just like a “martyr” but you live through it. It’s a sacrifice of ones self for a bigger or religious purpose. One may take blame for something they didn’t do to provide comfort or happiness to others.

Mike was happy to be a bartyr if it meant the community could rest easy. He took the blame and was vilified because he knew it served a bigger person. He knew he did nothing wrong but took blame anyway.
