Friend Zone

When you are in a deep emotional relationship with a member of the opposite sex that is in all ways exactly like a romantic relationship but without the physical connection. But unlike a romantic relationship, it is prone to end at any time and start up again without the inconvenience of actually breaking up.

"We spent all our time together and I thought we were going to start dating, but suddenly she started dating someone else and now barely talks to me. I guess I was in the friend zone."

Friend Zone

What you attain after you fail to impress a woman you're attracted to. Usually initiated by the woman saying, "You're such a good friend". Usually associated with long days of suffering and watching your love interest hop from one bad relationship to another. Verb tense is "Friend-ed".

"I spent all that money on a date, just to find out she put me in the Friend Zone(said with eerie echo)."

"You know that hot girl I've been talking to? She just Friend-ed me."

friend with penalties

A member of the opposite sex, that you know because they make it clear they have been in love with you since you met. You refuse their romantic gestures almost coldheartedly, and struggle to keep them at an arm's length, but safely within the friend zone, because they have some value or benefit for you. Unknowingly, they constantly attempt to make their affections for you more clear sand present them to you in painful obvious ways. Only to be rejected, repeatedly. You have "penalties" like, you refrain from casual hugs, or physical contacts, emotional outbursts or gratitude, for fear they might see it as a positive thing! Some form of an advance on your part, so you have to monitor your standard behavior when around them.

Oh, ya... That's nobody sexual, just my friend with penalties *name* and it's NOT like that!! For real, don't play around, and catch me a stalker!
