sainte-brigitte-du-mont-skouic-skouic

A fictional town in the remote north of Québec fabled to be the true birthplace of the famous squeaky cheese curds found on poutine. Founded by Irish monks who set up an abbey in honour of Saint Bridget at the foot of a small mountain, the town is named for the sound of snow crunching underfoot while hiking on the mountain in winter. The monks created the curds and, noting that when chewed it sounded like the snow, the name "Fromage Skouic-Skouic" stuck.

The real "Fromage Skouic-Skouic" comes from the Sainte-Brigitte-du-Mont-Skouic-Skouic region of Quebec. If not, it's just 'squeaky cheese.'
