A person who listens to metal music. Almost all metalheads are white and male, although they can of course be any race or gender.
One common feature of almost all true metalheads is a disdain for "fake metal" genres, that are often considered to be metal by the rest of society, such as nu-metal (e.g. Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park), metalcore (e.g. Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Bullet for my Valentine) and screamo (e.g. Alexisonfire, The Used, Underoath). Metalheads tend to consider such genres immature, referring to them as "mallcore". Metalheads usually hate to be erroneously associated with these types of music. Metalheads also hate to be associated with goths.

At British universities, metalheads tend to congregate at so-called "Rocksocs". That is to say, "Rock Societies" or "Rock and Metal Societies".

Get the metalheadmug. Metalheads are mostly arrogant, difficult to get along with, social rejects. In their eyes, any music that isn't metal is shit. They reject any kind of music if it's popular, whether it sounds good or not. They try to belittle anybody that: Likes any type of music other than metal, takes pride in their appearance or is popular. Of course this can't be said for all metalheads, but every single one I've ever met is exactly like this.

Not to say that the people who walk around with band t-shirts and jeans are not metal heads most metal heads don't openly show they are metal heads until you hear what they listen to or ask them

Get the Metalheadmug. Someone who listens to most metal. No, it doesnt matter what you wear or what kind of metal you listen to. You can still listen to Nu-metal and be a metalhead. The people that go around saying numetal sucks and that they r true metalheads are all just dumb assholes. You can listen to other types of music but to be considered a metalhead, you have to listen to any subgenre of metal mainly. Yes, Nu-metal bands r metal if they werent they they wouldnt be given the name Nu metal and yes bands like Slipknot and Korn and Avenged Sevenfold r metal I dont care what u think they r metal. My Chemical romance isnt metal im saying that because they have that as their genre on myspace. The people who r so called "true metalheads" that go around and say they suck r just people who make metalhead look like assholes with no lives. Most metalheads also have a taste in classic rock and/or hardcore bands. Most metalheads do hate emos but i think it shouldnt matter.
