is someone you've been messing with on and off for a while. It's not official-so they're not your ex-but there's still loyalty there. You both know you're not ready to commit, but you always come back to each other. It's not really love (like deep trust and passion), it's more about the bond and the understanding that you're each other's person even without the title.
