Get the straight edgemug. Beliefs ushered in through the lyrics and then-beliefs of Ian Mackaye (Teen Idles, Minor Threat era). Although he exclaims fervently that he did not mean to start a movement, and defended himself in the second version of "Out of Step", it did spark a movement.

Get the straight edgemug. If you are straight edge you are basically someone who respects their body and wants to live a healthy life. You don't drink, do drugs, or engage in promiscuous sex. Most straight edge people are teenagers (because they are under 21); therefore these are the smart teenagers...you know, the ones that can actually have fun without putting toxins in their body or randomly hooking up with people to pass the time.

1)Edge kids blieve in "rules" of no smoking, drinking, drugs or casual sex, with variations of veganism pro-life, etc.
2) Some of these variations are ridiculous and fascist.
But edge wasn't supposed to be rules, it was just supposed to be what you thought was right, and what was good for your health (ahem, getting in fights with smokers may not be too healthy).

straight edge has nothing to do with minor threat. they were singing about what they don't do. People are basing straight edge on a SELL OUT. Sex was NOT an original part of straight edge. It was added on in the 90's when people added the christian influence into edge. Sex is a PERSONAL decision in edge.
