Definition: A person who is deeply interested in or enthusiastic about archaeology, including the study of past human cultures, artifacts, and historical sites, whether professionally or as a hobby.

Though not a professional archaeologist, she was a devoted archaeophile, reading journals and books on experimental digs in her spare time.
