Chikane is the incarnation of the moon and she cares about Himeko more than anything. She constantly looks after Himeko throughout most of the series. Himeko is the incarnation of the sun and she has most of the series' attention.
Although many critics say that this anime is a must-see, many complain about the mecha cliches and the fact that the directors stuffed nearly half the show into the first episode.
By the way, this is a lesbian anime.
