A small town located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in
upstate New York. Voted #6 coolest small town in America in 2011! Though our town is
in the middle of
fucking nowhere, we're just 20 minutes
outside of Woodstock, 1/2 an hour from Kingston, and 2 1/2 hours away from NYC. Though our community is small, we do have some fun things to do. We have some great restaurants/cafes including, Sweet Sue's, Brio's, Mama's Boy, and the Phoenicia Diner. We have some cute shops on main street and there is a little playhouse called STS right nearby. During the summer tourists and locals alike will tube down the Esopus River! Just make sure you go on a calm day and follow all safety rules! There have been accidents! In the winter you can drive just 15 minutes away up to Bellayre to ski/snowboard! During the fall there is a train ride outside of town by Mt. Tremper! In the spring, well, spring kind of sucks. Once you've done all those things it gets pretty boring, but for tourists its nice. Don't worry, there are some hotels around! As for the people in Phoenicia, you have your more outdoorsy hipster types or you have your very
conservative people. It's divided between the young and the old. Most young people are very liberal and democratic. The older residents of town and their offspring are all very Republican and like to stick to their traditions. Otherwise, there isn't much else to Phoenicia. Once you've lived there your whole life, it gets pretty boring.
