MANAGEMENT RIGHTS

A TERM, REASON, OR JUDGEMENT GIVEN TO EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE BEEN AFFLICTED ON THE JOB, YET DESPITE THE EMPLOYEE'S UNDISPUTED EVIDENCE THAT SAY OTHERWISE, THEY ARE TOLD T O "STAND DOWN" OR "PICK YOUR BATTLES". THE TERM IS INTERCHANGEABLY USED AS A MORE PROFESSIONAL WAY OF SAYING "BECAUSE I FUCKING SAID SO AND I AM MORE INTERESTED IN PRESERVING MY OWN EGO AND ILLUSION OF ALWAYS BEING RIGHT THAN ACTUALLY DOING WHATS RIGHT. WE MUST NOT LOOK WEAK". THE TERM IS COMMON PLACE IN WORKPLACES HELL BENT ON THE PRESERVATION OF A GOOD OLE BOY/CLUB MENTALITY WHERE THE RULES ONLY APPLY TO SOME TO GIVE A SELECT FEW WHAT THEY WANT.
SUB-BOSS --" CAN YOU BELEIVE THE FACTS THESE GUYS BROUGHT AGAINST ME ON MY DECISION. WHAT DO WE DO NOW". BOSS-- "DON'T WORRY, WE WILL JUST CLAIM MANAGEMENT RIGHTS. ITS MORE IMPORTANT FOR IT TO LOOK LIKE YOU MADE A SOUND DECISION".

Management love-in

A peaceful gathering of senior staff focussing on self-congratulation and bonding, with blissful lack of awareness of duties neglected during the event, and of how pitifully inept, emotionally needy and ludicrous management looks to lower level staff. The more realistic title for such an event is used in confidence, as these events are promoted as a serious and necessary forums.
I'm so flat-out with all this work comen in I haven't got time to scratch meself. And I can't ask (insert manager name) to bring in a casual cos he's at this f**n management love-in.. Oh - look the Caterer - grab us a few sushi before the plates get taken in...

management rail

A channeled path. A forced direction used for management. Similar to a train track rail. It can be added to or removed from to enable extra or less areas for the rail to connect to, but it remains dedicated to its channeled directions.
In Atlanta, I am having difficulties with the management rail.

If I add a device, I better make sure to expand the management rail.

The management rail should be able to reach all devices you want to manage.

Management Tunnel Vision

When someone of a higher power/management decides to act on impulse regardless of how anyone else feels or has concerns about, in other words they dont give a flying fuck and only care bout their status.
I hate when my managers dont listen to what i have to say, its like they have management tunnel vision.

Management By Green Dot

When someone manages a work-from-home employee by checking that their status in a chat application like Slack, Microsoft Teams, etc., hasn't shifted from a green dot signifying "Present/Available" to an orange, yellow, or red dot signifying "Away", rather than by measuring things like quality and quantity of work output, whether deliverables are met in a timely fashion, customer satisfaction, etc.

With the explosion in employees working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020+, many managers who had been accustomed to prowling cube farms and looking over their employees' shoulders to make sure they were working, resorted to this technique.
"My manager totally does management by green dot. I got yelled at for being 'Away' on Slack yesterday morning because I had to spend half an hour on the phone with my kid's school. I'm going to have to get one of those mouse jigglers."

waist management

euphemism for dieting / wordplay on 'waste management'
