She/they is a set of pronouns. Everyone and everything uses pronouns, and she/they is simply a set of pronouns. Such as he/him, she/her, they/them, neopronouns, etc. People who use she/they pronouns use these pronouns because they are comfortable with both she/her pronouns AND they/them pronouns. They can also be comfortable with even MORE pronouns than those.

"I heard Claire uses she/they pronouns."
"What does that mean?"
"This means we can use she/her OR they/them pronouns when referring to Claire."
"Wow! She is so valid and cool."
"Yeah, they're are so valid!"

In this case, they prefer the pronouns she/her but do not hate the pronouns they/them.
