A slang term for a grandmother. Used in many southern states, including Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, and Louisiana.

Mema

Mema and Pepa are German derived nicknames for grandmother and grandfather respectively. They are not Yiddish (bubbe would be Yiddish for grandmother) or Southern U.S. American. They are used in areas with German ancestry in the U.S. though.
