Friendtationship 

When two people like each other but aren't in a relationship. But they have good sex, tell each other secrets, smoke pot together, go to dinner, act like best friends and have people question if they're boning each other or not.

Man, instead of a friends with benefits, I want a friendtationship.

friendationship 

the state of a relationship wherein the two people are clearly "more than friends" but won't admit or don't know if they are a "couple" or not

I created this word about five years ago by merging the words "friend" and "relationship." There are so many relationships that seem undefinable, and this word suits them well.

Bill and Sara claim that they're not dating, but they spend every waking moment together; so I'm starting to wonder if they are in a friendationship.

Friendlationship 

Friendlationship(n) is a combination of the words 'friends' and 'relationship', used to describe a somewhat-platonic relationship that contains all the aspects of an actual romantic relationship, without any physical/sexual benefits. Basically, all the sacrifice but none of the gain. Often occurs when both people involved harbor some desire for the other, but neither is willing to take a chance and potentially ruin their friendship.

Guy 1: So is Jake hanging out with us tonight?
Guy 2: No man, he's hanging out with Vanessa again.

Guy 1: Man he's so whipped. What an idiot.
Guy 2: He needs to get out of that fucking friendlationship.

Frienlationship 

A friendship with someone who is thousands of miles away, but you talk to more than your actual boyfriend/girlfriend. you have talked so much you know this person better than your own family members. Both people in the frienlationship have agreed that you're perfect for each other and wish that you can somehow make a relationship out of what you already have laid groundwork for.

guy 1: Hey man, whats up with you and that chick from Pennsylvania? You're constantly on the phone with her.
guy 2: i don't know man, we've got ourselves tied up in a frienlationship. I'm thinking about breaking up with the old lady for her.

A friendlationship is the step between friendship and relationship.

A friendlationship occurres when two individuals share mutual romantic feelings towards one another, but it is not an official relationship yet.

friendlationship 

"Friendlationship" is a word that describes something more than friendship, but less than a dating relationship. My girlfriend, Angela, made it up about 4 months ago. It described the 'thing' between her and the person she wanted more with. However, the other person was too... whatever... to conceed to a relationship with Angela. Pretty much means there's courtship, but no one's ready to label it yet.

Ryan and Marie text or IM ALL the time, know each others' tentative schedules, and go to invisible on AIM so only they know the other is online - they're SO in a friendlationship.

Friendlationship 

The love between a panda and a beetle. Basically dating, but can be in other fully-functioning relationships. The perfect mixture of a best friendship and a relationship. No sex involved but lots of cuddles. Involves "good morning beautiful" texts, visiting their families, and sleepovers.

I can never find a boyfriend that will treat me as good as my friendlationship does.
