The freebie exclusion principle (F.E.P.) dictates that if you eat a free food sample, you must not buy that food in the same fiscal year or the company wins and your sample was not free.

Q: Why didn't you take that free gatorade?

A: F.E.P. - I could never hold off gatorade for a year.
