The Jinks Effect

1) Meteorological (most common association):
Extremely severe and inclement weather. In particular, when bad weather comes as a surprise following an optimisitc forecast.

2) A person or thing that is believed to bring bad luck (Jinks or Jinx)

3) A condition or period of bad luck that appears to have been caused by a specific person or thing.
The sudden and surprising change in weather that resulted in the tsunami is thought to have been caused by The Jinks Effect.
