to bail, often times when one makes solid plans and then does not show up at the last second, or when one makes a promise and does not follow through or keep the promise

Nick- "Yo, we're all going to the bars tonight."
Meredith- "Awesome! Is Ryan going to come?"
Nick- "He says he is but he'll probably end up pitting out and staying home."
