(?)
A tone indicator, appended to the end of a thought or sentence, is commonly used to convey uncertainty or to solicit confirmation in a less strict (or demanding) manner.
(?) softens the tone of a question compared to a direct (?).
For example:
* 'Wanna watch a movie today?' is a direct question (with a yes or no reply)
* 'Wanna watch a movie today(?)' conveys hesitation or uncertainty
The latter statement may be answered with 'Do you, yourself, want to?' whereas the former statement may be answered with 'Yes' or 'No'.
(?) can also be used with a space in a sentence to express hesitation (or reluctance) and uncertainty:
* 'Hopefully(?)' would mean one is uncertain (they might be able but they might be unable)
* 'Hopefully (?)' would mean one is reluctant and uncertain (they might be able but might change their mind)
