GIA

a formerly multicultural region that makes up part of the Greater Toronto Area with an extremely high South Asian population. Abbreviated for Greater Indian Area, this region encompasses Brampton, Mississauga, and Milton. Many outsiders will feel that they are in India rather than Canada. What once used to feel like a diverse community has now become a place where you may be the only non-Indian in your neighborhood.

Doug: My teacher told me that Canada's diversity is comparable to a mixed salad
Martin: (scoffs) I think you mean a pecan salad, have you not heard of the GIA?
