Švaba

An old term given to Germans used by people in ex-Yugoslavia countries.

The term appeared somewhere in 19th and 20th century but got really used during 1940's when Yugoslavia was attacked and under German occupation.

Originally it was a derogatory term/slur and while it is still widely used today it's mainly because of habit not because the Balkan Slavs would hate German people.

The term Švaba/Švabo (Schwaba) came from a mixture of "Bubašvaba" (cockroach in serbo-croatian) and the southwestern region in Germany named Swabia.
WW2 example:
Yugoslav 1: Da li si ti čuo, da su nas Švabi napali? (Have you heard? Švabs have attacked us).

Yugoslav 2: Jebeni švabi, majki mi (Fucking švabs, I swear to God)

Modern example:
Serbian: Last month I went to Germany.
Croatian: Cool. How was it?
Serbian: Not bad. If we compare how we have it to how the Švaba have it, then I gotta say that Švabi have it a lot better and easier than we do.
