A function word that indicates a negative. Not so. Used to express a refusal or denial. On no condition. Used primarily by people of Latino descent. (Does NOT sound like "hail" or "mail").

That foo wanted me to go with him, but I was like chale.

Ay foo, let's meet up at my cantón later.
